Three Injured at Corbion Caravan Manufacturing Facility in Kansas City, Kansas

Corbion Caravan's Kansas City, Kansas manufacturing facility experienced an explosion in the early morning hours today. The explosion occurred around 1:30 am on the fourth floor of the seven story facility located at Kansas Ave and I-635. Three Corbion Caravan employees were injured as a result of the explosion and two are receiving treatment at a local area hospital, the third has been released. The Kansas City area fire crew and emergency personnel responded quickly to the fire alarm, were on the scene in minutes and wrapped up their work around 2:45 am.
 
The safety and well being of employees is the top priority for Corbion Caravan. A full investigation is underway into the cause of the explosion. No business disruption to customers is expected due to available back-up inventories. Corbion Caravan expects the facility to be fully operational within the next 24-48 hours.
 
The Kansas Avenue manufacturing facility produces dry blend ingredients for sale to the bakery, food, and beverage industries.
