Biobased lactides for PLA

For the plastics industry we offer via our Joint Venture with Total polylactide resins for high performance PLA (poly lactic acid) - a biobased plastic with a low carbon footprint that’s used in packaging,  man-made fibers and non-wovens, electronics and automotive markets.

In packaging alone, PLA can be thermoformed, injection and blow molded, blown to thin films, and foamed. Our high-heat PLA technology can help in manufacturing articles that withstand boiling water, which opens up new bioplastic application possibilities – for example, as hot food clamshells, hot beverage cups and hot noodle containers. Read more>>

Building blocks for CASE resins

Biobased FDCA for PEF

Our fermentation-based furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA) replaces terephthalic acid (PTA) in PET polyester, predominantly for bottles and rigid food packaging PEF is superior to PET in several ways. It’s more versatile, with 6 times’ better gas barrier properties, which opens up entirely new application areas. Long-term, it also provides attractive costs thanks to a greater low-cost Ethylene Glycol monomer content (w/w). And it’s kind to the planet, with a lower carbon footprint than PET.  Read more>>
