California Privacy Statement

Corbion NV and its group entities (“Corbion” or “we”) have developed this California privacy statement in accordance with our obligations under the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA") and the California Privacy Rights Act ("CPRA") (collectively, "California Privacy Law"). This California Privacy Statement explains how Corbion collects and processes personal information about California residents who are customers, suppliers, or other business contacts and/or who visit Corbion websites or digital applications (collectively, our “Site(s)”).

When we use the term “personal information” in the context of the CCPA, we mean information that identifies, relates to, describes, is capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular California consumer or household.

California Personal Information. Depending on your online and offline interactions with us, Corbion may collect and process the following categories of personal information (“California Personal Information”):

  • Identifiers, including contact details such as name, address, telephone number, email address;
  • Financial information, including credit card information and tax information;
  • Professional or employment-related information, including relevant experience and organization information;
  • Internet or other electronic network activity information, including your interactions with our Sites;
  • Audio, electronic, visual or similar information, including CCTV images in connection with secure use of company systems and facilities; and
  • Inferences drawn from the information collected.

Certain California Personal Information that Corbion collects about you may be considered Sensitive Personal Information within the meaning of California Privacy Law, including: credit card information (for billing and transactional purposes in connection with providing products and services). Corbion only uses and discloses Sensitive Personal Information as necessary in connection with the performance of services and the provision of goods, compliance with federal, state, or local laws, and as otherwise permitted by California Privacy Law.

Sources. Corbion generally sources the categories of California Personal Information identified above directly from you (for instance, when you provide information as part of a business transaction or otherwise), third party reference agencies, distributors and intermediaries, data analytics providers, and social media networks.

Purposes of use. Corbion uses California Personal Information for:

  • Business purposes, including:
  • Negotiating, concluding and performing contracts with customers (including the provision of financial services and advice); o Managing subscriptions to our corporate and marketing communications;
  • Providing customer service;
  • Responding to customer inquiries, complaints, comments, emails, and other correspondence received through the Sites;
  • Negotiating, concluding and performing contracts with suppliers;
  • Communicating with individuals that are, or who represent, customers, suppliers or web users related to transactions;
  • Operating the Corbion Sites, including the use of analytics software;
  • Providing customer service;
  • Verifying customer information;
  • Processing payments;
  • Marketing and advertising our products and services;
  • Conducting market research to improve our product and service offerings and tailor them to our customers and prospects;
  • Conducting business with and providing products and services to our customers;
  • Improving the website experience for all visitors;
  • Understanding the demographics of our Sites visitors;
  • Operating and maintaining the Sites;
  • Conducting market research to improve our product and service offerings and tailor them to our customers and prospects;
  • Following up with customers and prospects who visit the Sites with respect to the products that they have viewed on the Customer Portal to see how we may be of further service and whether they are interested in particular Corbion products and services;
  • Detecting security incidents;
  • Debugging to identify and repair errors that impair existing intended functionality of our Sites, products, and services;
  • Protecting against malicious or illegal activity and prosecuting those responsible;
  • Documenting and managing our internal administration; and
  • Verifying and responding to consumer requests.

  • For any other purpose identified in our privacy statement or other agreement between Corbion and you.

  • Advertising, marketing, and public relations (including direct marketing);

  • To contact you with special offers and other information we believe will be of interest to you;
  • To invite you to participate in surveys and provide feedback to us;
  • To better understand your needs and interests; and
  • To improve our marketing and promotional efforts.

 

Disclosure of California Personal Information.

  • We may disclose the categories of California Personal Information described above for the business purposes described above to:
  • Third party service providers that perform data processing activities on our behalf, and subject to appropriate privacy and security obligations;
  • Customers, distributors, and intermediaries in connection with the performance of transactions;
  • Government and other authorities as required by law;
  • Potential purchasers and other parties in connection with the sale, purchase or merger of a business; and
  • Others to the extent necessary to comply with applicable law and as otherwise permitted under California Privacy Law.

We do NOT sell your personal information, including the data of any minors. We do not sell or otherwise trade for non-monetary consideration the personal information that we collect from California residents at any point or under any circumstance.

Retention of California Personal Information. Corbion retains your California Personal Information for as long as needed or permitted in light of the purpose(s) for which it was obtained. However, we may retain Personal Data for a longer period where it is required or permitted by laws. We generally retain California Personal Information related to marketing activities for the time period permitted by applicable law, and upon request, we will securely delete such data in accordance with applicable law.

Your Rights. Subject to certain exceptions detailed in California Privacy Law, as a California resident, you have the right to request: (i) deletion of your California Personal Information; (ii) correction of inaccurate California Personal Information; (iii) the right to know/ access the categories of California Personal Information that we collect about you, including the specific pieces of California Personal Information; (iv) the categories of California Personal Information disclosed for a business purpose; and (v) information about the categories of California Personal Information about you that we have shared and the categories of third parties to whom the California Personal Information was shared.

Exercising Your Rights. If you are a California resident and wish to request the exercise of these rights as detailed above or have questions regarding the California Personal Information collected or shared with third parties, please see the “Contact us” section below if you have questions, click here, email us at privacy.us@corbion.com, or call our privacy toll-free line at +1 (888) 941-9661 and enter PIN: 445 172. When submitting your request, please include the specific nature of your request, referencing "Your California Privacy Rights," as well as your first and last name, email address, and zip code or mailing address. Corbion may apply any exceptions or other conditions available under law when responding to correction, deletion, or other requests. Corbion will generally fulfil requests for access, correction, and deletion within 45 days of receiving a valid request. Corbion may extend the respond time by another 45 days by notifying the individual of the time extension.

In addition, we have configured our cookie management tool to honour opt-out preference signals sent by Global Privacy Control ("GPC") within the browser. Due to technical limitations, the GPC signal is only honoured within the particular browser. Beyond GPC, we do not currently respond to web browser “do not track” signals or other mechanisms that indicate your preference for not having information collected over time and across different Web sites or digital apps following your visit to one of our Sites. We will not discriminate against you by offering you different pricing or products, or by providing you with a different level or quality of products, based solely upon this request.

When you submit a consumer request through one of the methods provided above, we will ask you to provide some information in order to verify your identity and respond to your request. Specifically, we will need you to provide your name, email, phone number, IP address, and device ID.

Authorized Agents. To the extent that you elect to designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, they must provide appropriate documentation including written signed permission from you, proof of your identity, and verification of their identity; or a valid, designated power of attorney as defined under the California Probate Code.

Financial Incentive. If we engage in a financial incentive, we will provide you with separate notice and obtain your consent.

Links to other websites. Our website may contain links to other websites of interest. However, once you have used these links to leave our site, you should note that we do not have any control over that other website. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this California privacy statement. You should exercise caution and look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question.

Use of social media buttons. On our website we use the social media plug-ins from platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn. The plug-ins can be recognized by the social media buttons marked with the logos of these companies.

We have implemented these plug-ins using the so-called 2-click solution. This means that when you surf on our website, no information of you will initially be collected by the providers of these social media plug-ins. Only if you click on one of the plug-ins will your information be transmitted: by activating the plug-in, data is automatically transmitted to the respective plug-in provider and stored by them. We do not have influence on the collected data and data processing operations conducted by Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn and are not aware of the full extent of data collection, the purposes or the retention periods. Information on the purpose and scope of data collection and its processing by social media platforms can be found in the respective data protection policies of these providers, where you will also find further information on your rights and options for privacy protection. Use of cookies and other tracking technologies. Cookies are small files that a website may transfer to a user’s computer that reside there for either the duration of the browsing session (session cookies) or on a permanent (until deleted) basis (persistent cookies) that may be used to identify a user, a user’s machine, or a user’s behavior. We make use of cookies under the following circumstances and for the following reasons:

Children under the age of 16. Our Sites are not intended for children under 16 years of age. No one under age 16 may provide any personal information on the website.
