PURASAL® S/HQ60 is our high-quality, highly soluble sodium salt of L-lactic acid, produced by fermentation from carbohydrates. This humectant is ideal for boosting the Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF) by moisturizing the skin and key component of the NMF. It provides basic moisturization – and can replace glycerin thanks to sodium lactate being less tacky.

Sodium Lactate has the highest water-holding capacity - and has been shown to have a superior plasticizing effect on the stratum corneum compared to other well-known humectants.

The stratum corneum is the upper layer of the skin, especially important as a barrier against water loss: The higher the water content of the stratum corneum, the more plasticized it is, and the more soft and supple the skin becomes.
