As the global population grows, so does the challenge in the supply of long-chain polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids such as DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid).
Although microalgae are the original source of marine long-chain omega-3s, DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid), food and feed manufacturers have long looked to fish oil and derivates to incorporate these fatty acids into diets. However, the continuous use of fish oil and derivates put growing pressure on wild fish foraging and overburdened ocean resources.
In response to this increasingly critical issue, we developed an innovative solution - growing marine microalgae via fermentation - and introduced AlgaPrime™ DHA, an efficient, clean, and sustainable source of long-chain omega-3s.
AlgaPrime™ DHA is a high-quality, vegetarian source of Omega-3 Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA), which is a key building block for animal feed. With AlgaPrime™ DHA we help maintain or raise the Omega-3s level for healthy diets, reducing the dependency on fish oil in feed, while preserving the environment.

Our products are made from a single-cell algae strain grown at a large scale in enclosed ponds using proprietary cultivation techniques to produce the highest levels of DHA possible.
In our efforts to advance feed and food with sustainable nutrition and meet today and tomorrow's challenges, we designed our production facilities to deliver an advanced level of sustainability in the way we create microalgae-based Omega-3s, offering low carbon water and land-use impacts.
To make AlgaPrime™ DHA, microalgae are grown in closed fermentation tanks where they transform renewable, sustainable, plant-based sugars into algae containing omega-3-rich biomass in a matter of days.
Our facility is strategically located among sugar cane fields in Brazil and next door to a sugar cane mill. Compared to other sugars sources such as corn and wheat, the sugar cane used to grow AlgaPrime™ DHA it's one of the world's most productive sugar sources, resulting in practical innovation that is sustainable, affordable, and at scale.
Moreover, the sugar cane waste is used as a renewable source of energy that fully powers the sugar mill and our algae facility.
We have completed a full Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for the AlgaPrime™ DHA portfolio which demonstrated that Omega-3s from AlgaPrime™ DHA have lower carbon footprint compared to traditional Omega-3s sources of fish oil.
